COMMUNITY

THEIR STORIES

No one can tell such an important story more than the amazing individuals that have walked in their shoes. We are lucky to have these amazing young people share their experiences so that you know a little bit more about why it is important to get involved.

Often times young adults need more help than they know is available, which is why these resources are needed in our community. Helping them continue to guide them on a path to finding their purpose in life, or making sure they may feel completely confident rather than lost and unsure of what to do is our goal.

"It is always a joy to share about my experience as a mentor and encourage others to stand up and be a part of the solution. Suppose out of the 8,760 hours in a year, people took a few of those to share with a child who needs someone in their corner. We would see so many benefits for our communities: lower dropout rates, higher college enrollment rates, healthier lifestyle options, improved interpersonal relationship skills. I like to tell people that being a Big Sister is not only making a difference in one young girl’s life, it is impacting our entire community."

“[Transition-age youth] can make their own choices; and even though they don’t get it right the first time, every time, I enjoy seeing the growth as my case child transitions into adulthood, and learns to make the best decisions for his future.”

"I enjoy being a CASA with Voices for Children because they allow me to grow as a person while helping our most vulnerable youth to find their purpose, raise their voice and showcase their potential."
